Saturday Morning Update #74

Saturday Morning Update is a weekly series where I talk about my adventures in geek life from the previous week. Read on to find out a little bit more about what I did this week, including what I watched, read, and played.
I mostly spent this week cleaning and reading comics and playing games. In other words it was awesome.

WHAT I WATCHED
Yeah... I really think I might skip Episode IX now.

WHAT I READ
My friend Sheena (a poet and blogger at missmacross.com) had mentioned Snotgirl to me maybe a year ago, but somehow it took a year for me to actually pick it up. Written by Bryan Lee O'Malley, Snotgirl is about a fashion blogger (blogger representation matters!) who has allergies and anxiety and it's wonderful! I thought I would like it because it's about blogging but I actually identify more with the social awkwardness of being a person. If you hate going outside and being stuck inside and being alone and talking to people, check out Snotgirl. Get Vol. 1 here and Vol. 2 here.

WHAT I PLAYED
After a few weeks of nothing exciting, I've finally been gaming more this past week! First, I finally found time to play through the entire X-Men arcade game. Victory Pointe has the 6-player, 2-screen cabinet but I've never really been motivated to play through it. It was kinda cool since I recently read a bunch of classic X-Men comics from the era this game was created, but... even as a retrogame there isn't much to it. Just follow the arrows and beat up the bad guys. No power-ups or items. Kinda bleh.

My brother has been staying with us for a while and somehow the topic of Saints Row has come up a lot. I bought the PS4 rerelease of the fourth game which sees the leader of the 3rd Street Saints becoming the President of the United States. After most of his staff - former members of the Saints - are abducted by aliens and put inside of a virtual simulation, the Earth is destroyed and the Saints rally together to get revenge and defeat the aliens. Yeah, it's weird. Hard to believe the franchise started off as simple a GTA clone. I love it so much I want to replay the other games including the first game which I've never played!

What have you been up to this week? What are you doing next week? Let me know in the comments below!
