Behind the Bunny: The Complete Space Bunny Story

This week sees the midway point of the Kickstarter campaign for Space Bunny #1 & #2. When this was announced during last month’s Warp Vector Direct, a lot of people heard the news and all asked one question: what is Space Bunny? Since this is another one of those weird indie comics I love - and co-created - I am here to answer that question.

The World Has to Know About This Yo-Yo Book

It has been over two and a half years since I reviewed a comic. Every since then, my Review Policy has warned creators not to send me their comic for review unless it was the best comic released in two and a half years. Since then I've basically retired from blogging, only popping in a few times a year. But that's going to change in 2024. Because the world has to know about so many comics, games, and more. Because the world has to know about this yo-yo book.

Even More Comics for Kids

It's that time of year again. One of my local mom friends was looking for graphic novel suggestions for their kid and after talking for like an hour I was like, "Hey, why don't I just publish this?" So here we are. Read on to check out some of my more recent favorite comics for kids.

Dear Publishers: Stop putting "#1" in your one-shots

Has this ever happened to you? You’re standing in your local comic shop and a new title catches your eye. You pick it up, take it home, give it a read, and very much enjoy it. A month later, the second issue isn’t in stock. You ask the owner and check online and discover the dark truth: there is no #2. The issue you read is the first and only issue in the so-called series. You go home, stare silently into the mirror, and ask yourself: "What the hell?"

More Comics For Kids

Way back in 2019 I wrote this guide recommending some comics for kids. Every now and then I'd go back and update it by expanding titles I finally read or outright removing titles that weren't comics in the first place. Well things have happened in my life and suddenly I am way more savvy when it comes to comics for kids, so here's a bunch more.

Why You Should Read Invincible

After much anticipation, the animated adaptation of Robert Kirkman's Invincible lands on Amazon Prime Video this month. For many, this is their most anticipated superhero project of the decade. For others, this is the first time they're hearing about the series. I only read Invincible for the first time last summer, so if you're new here then allow me to fill you in.

REVIEW: Radiant Black #1

You’ve probably already read the article where I gushed about how excited I was for the new series from Power Rangers writer Kyle Higges. Now, the moment has come. Radiant Black has been hyped by the entire industry for months. Is it actually good or was Robert Kirkman wrong?

My Favorite Comics of 2020

This year was... bad. The comics industry shut down for a good while and when it finally started up again I just wasn't feeling most comics. Sure, I read older stuff for the first time ever like Invincible or Claymore. I read a handful of new releases, but I don't even remember most of them - somehow my Hoopla history got deleted. It was a weird year, so this list is going to be weird as well.

Why I'm Excited for Radiant Black

I never - and I mean never - post about a comic until the week it comes out. This is a personal blog, not a news site, so I read solicits and press releases and maybe tweet about them, but that's it. So when I write an article about a comic over three months before it's in-store date - like that time last year I gushed about Finger Guns and how it sounded like a fake manga - you know I mean serious business. Everyone, we need to talk about Radiant Black.

Transforming Heroes Team-Up in Marcelo Biott’s InfraCity

No matter what we do, it seems as though tokusatsu is destined to remain underground in the west. Japanese superheroes, as cool as they are, make a leap toward the mainstream every few years, but never stick the landing. As with many things in this world: if you want something, you’ve got to do it yourself. This is the advice independent comic illustrator Marcelo Biott took when creating his tokusatsu-inspired epic webcomic: InfraCity.

The Pulls: Spider-Man, Power Rangers, and More

There isn't a whole lot coming out this week that I wanted to review. That doesn't happen a lot, especially when you get as many review comics as I do. Whenever this happened back when I was doing This Week In Comics, I'd just skip the week. But this is The Pulls and oh my god guys I actually went to a comic shop and picked stuff up this week! Check them out after the jump.

The Pulls: Inkblot, Stargazer, Die, and More

Welcome to The Pulls, my new weekly spotlight on comics in stores now. My previous comic review series, This Week In Comics, exclusively focused on advance reviews of new releases. But I read so much more than just what I get for review from publishers. And sometimes it takes me a while to get to review copies. The Pulls will features a blend of advance reviews as well as reviews of any comics, new or old, that I've been reading throughout the week. Let's get on with the show!

Spera: An Art Experiment

I first discovered a print copy of the first volume of this strange little fantasy comic from a discount book store back in 2015. After giving it a read I wrapped it up and gave it to a friend as a gift - never thinking about it again. Five years and five volumes later, it's time we talked about Spera.

Get Through the Quarantine With These 15 Digital Comic Platforms

This post has been compensated by Inmar Intelligence. All brands and retailers mentioned herein are not affiliated with this promotion. All opinions are mine alone. #WeCreateItForward

The past few weeks have been difficult for all of us, and it looks like it's not going to get better any time soon. Like many introverts, I'm no stranger to staying home and finding ways to entertain myself. One of the things that has kept me going through all of this is digital comics. There are lots of different apps to stream comics - some of which are completely free - so I thought I'd share them with you.

REVIEW: Hellfighter Quin #1

So I had this whole thing where I was going to call this "Duel of the Firsts" because I had four issues to review this week that were all first issues in new series. I wrote one review and then had a total breakdown. Enjoy!

This Week In Comics: 2/26

Another week, another round of new comics. You guys know the drill by now. Although this week is pretty cool because Finger Guns is finally out! Well it will be Wednesday. As per usual: reviews after the jump.

This Week In Comics: 2/19

Is it still February? This year is sure taking it's time. This is also the first week without a Power Rangers comic since 1987. I think. In any case, read on to check out my reviews of the comics coming out this week.

This Week In Comics: 2/12

New comics come out every single week! That's so wild. I've been doing this for two years and it's starting to drive me a bit crazy. In any case, here's some more comic reviews. I'll be back next week with even more.

Why I Don't Buy Single Issues

When I started this blog, I barely read any comics. Three years later, comic book related content makes up most of the blog. I'm sure most people thing this is just a comics blog. I go to comic cons. I've even written a few comics. But as much as I've come to love comics, there is one controversial stance I've taken: I don't buy single issues.

This Week In Comics: 1/22

The holiday slump is finally over! This week I have more comics to review than I know what to do with. Comics set in space, comics set on a farm, comics about gems. And, because this is a week, there's a new Power Rangers comic out too.
