Saturday Mornng Update: 2/22

As far as moving back to Pittsburgh goes, things have been progressing slower than I would've liked. We still don't have most of the furniture needed to have a normal household, and the death of my computer has made doing any real work a major challenge. But it hasn't been all bad! Read on to find out what I've been up to this week.

We saw Sonic the Hedgehog and boy it sure was something. A lot of people are giving it the label of "surprisingly good" but really I think it was just surprisingly not terrible like most video game adaptations. It wasn't great and mostly I was bored. Just like Solo and Venom, it feels like it was made in the mid-2000s. In any case it'll probably be my favorite movie of the year because there isn't another movie coming out this year that I actually want to see.

NIB ANIMALS (RES)

The Nib is an digital comic series featuring editorial cartoons, memoirs, and social commentary. Their latest physical issue is all about Animals, a seemingly one-word prompt given to their contributors to interrupt however they see fit. Literally anything related to animals can be found in here - both fun and educational as well as sad and some that are just plain weird. Stories about childhood pets, the food and fashion industries, and much more. Every turn of the page is something different. Click here to get a copy for yourself.

Spaceland

I played a lot of Spaceland on the Switch this week. It's a turn-based shooter like X-COM or SteamWorld Heist. It’s a lot of fun but some of the levels can be frustratingly hard. I often feel like I am playing a puzzle game, not a strategy game. And for a game called “Spaceland” it sure does seem to take place entirely on one planet. When it comes to a space opera, especially a game, it’s fun to explore other settings and not stay in one place for so long.⁣ But the different enemies and weapons and abilities you unlock make the game lots of fun. Shout out to the developers Tortuga Team for hooking me up with a copy.

What have you been up to this week? Let me know in the comments down below.
