My Favorite TV Shows of the Decade

Hey this is a TV blog now! Other than anime I don't really write about the TV I watch on here that often, so I'm trying to change that. To start, here's my favorite TV shows of the decade, includes live-action and animated series from across the planet.

Honorable Mention: The Good Place

The only reason this series isn't on the proper list is because it technically isn't over and the last few episodes could easily be terrible. And we all know how Game of Thrones turned out. This show's great though.

10. The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes

Pulling characters and stories from across the history of Marvel comics and splicing in some MCU flavor, this series told stories fans of all ages could enjoy. I loved seeing the characters develop and the different story arcs playing out. I do think the second season got meddled a bit too much - it was way to earlier for Secret Invasion.

9. Digimon Xros Wars

After half a decade of silence, Digimon came back! I loved so much about this show, I even loved the dub. The large cast of characters and all of the new evolution gimmicks were so much fun to watch. The ending was fantastic and even the bonus mini season that got tacked on at the end was alright. I really want to see more of these guys again.

8. Orphan Black

God, Tatiana Maslany deserves an award for this show. I know she has awards for this show and I don't believe in awards, but it's an expression deal with it. She plays like twenty different characters and often plays one of those characters in disguise as another one. Some of the best acting I've ever seen. I  really wanted to see an iZombie crossover.

7. Power Rangers Dino Charge

As far as my favorite franchises go, Power Rangers owned this decade. If you liked Power Rangers even a little bit, there was something for you. Comics, movie, board game, even a livestream tabeltop game show. The only place the series was lacking, ironically, was the show itself. Luckily there was a bright spot featuring ten of the best Rangers ever assembled in a story that injected new life into the series.

6. Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated

I typically don't like Scooby-Doo, but I love the idea of Scooby-Doo. I've always wanted a series that uses the concept and the characters in an ongoing narrative, with continuing subplots and season-long mysteries, while still keeping the standard episode format. This series is exactly that and more. Character development, ongoing story-lines, and references to the entire Scooby-Doo franchise make this my favorite and only Scooby-Doo show.

5. Kamen Rider OOO

God, I cried when this ended. Not like right at the end, I'm talkin about the entire last episode. I've tried watching other Kamen Rider show and this is so far the only one that's really held me until the end. It's just so much wild fun and Eiji and Ankh have the best relationship. I'd watch those two for another 50 episodes of anything any day.

4. iZombie

God damn, Rose McIver! Hands down the best actor to come out of Power Rangers. She got to play a different character in every episode and the creators had a fun time changing up the story every season. It was hilarious and sad and had tons of action and the zombie lore was top notch. And that ending was just perfect!

3. Hunter X Hunter

What can I say, it's an adaptation of the only manga I loved enough to keep up with for over ten years. The only reason it's not higher is because it cut out the sushi scene.

2. Steven Universe

I was late to the Steven Universe party, but luckily this party just keeps on going and it's slow as hell. I've noticed that a lot of people either completely love Steven Universe or think it's the worst thing to ever happen to children. When I ask the latter group what their problems with the show are it usually boils down to the correct way to pronounce "Peridot." I sometimes feel like I fall in the middle of the group, but when I look back on the decade this was the show I binged the fastest and rewatched the most.

1. Astra Lost In Space

I loved this manga so damn much that I was beyond excited for the anime - it was the first thing I ever watched simulcast. I was bummed that a few random little moments were cut but the first and last episodes were an hour long and most episodes skipped either the opening or the ending so they had to cut things somewhere. It was beautifully well done and an adventure I can't wait to go on again.
