Saturday Morning #76

Saturday Morning Update is a weekly series where I talk about my adventures in geek life from the previous week. Read on to find out a little bit more about what I did this past week, including what I watched, read, and played.

This was kinda a crazy week at my day job so I spent most of it eating junk food to deal with the stress...

WHAT I WATCHED
I finally sat down and watched the final season of Orphan Black. I kinda wished I did a rewatch before hand to get caught back up because I had no idea who like half the people were. If you have no idea waht I'm talking about: Orphan Black is a biopunk TV series about a group of human clones and all of the genetic mysteries and shenanigans they get caught up in. The main gimmick is that one actress plays at least 5 main characters - but she also often plays the one clone in disguise as another. There are so many interesting characters and while all of the sciencey stuff goes over my head it's really, really interesting. You can watch the whole series on Amazon Prime Video.

WHAT I READ
You can read my review of The Thousand Year Beach by Tobi Hirotaka by clicking here. I also read New Super-Man Vol. 1 on Hoopla. It follows a Chinese organizations attempt to counter the rise of Western style supervillains with their own Justice League. Super-Man is the main focus and narrator, but we are also quickly introduced to new, Chinese versions of Bat-Man and Wonder-Woman. It's written by the great Gene Luen Yang... but it's not his best work. I liked it and I'll probably read more, but it feels pretty basic. It's as if anybody could've written it. I will say that there is probably zero chances of me ever reading a normal Superman book so the fact that I want to read more of this says something! You can read it on Hoopla or get a physical copy here. Vol. 2 is also available here and you can pre-order Vol. 3 here.

WHAT I PLAYED
Nothing this week. That being said I did log into my old App Store account (I have been using Samsung phones for a while but still have a clunky old Macbook Pro) and found about $9 in credit that's probably left over from some random gift card. If anybody has any good recommendations for cheap games on Mac, let me know!

What have you been up to this week? What are you doing next week? Let me know in the comments below!
