This Week In Comics: 3/27

Tomorrow is Wednesday and that means it’s almost New Comic Book Day! This week’s comics are all about love. Click the jump to check out some of the new comics hitting the shelves at your local comic book shop this week.

Disclaimer: I received advance copies of all comics featured this week courtesy of their individual publishers.
Opinions are my own.

Death of Love #2
When last we saw Harris, he had taken some pills he got from a stranger in a bar. Now, Harris can see cupids. Or cupidae as is established as the plural form of cupid. Harris’s friends think he just had a bad trip, but he knows what he saw. After taking a few more mystery cupid pills to prove that he isn’t going crazy, Harris sets out to kidnap a cupid. That doesn’t go to well for him. Once again, Death of Love delivers a violently weird story of a guy who just wants someone to love. It’s zany, energetic, and bizarrely charming. Check it out in your local comic book shop!

Moonstruck Vol. 1
From Grace Ellis, creator of Lumberjanes, moonstruck is the story of Julie, a barista living in a hip college town - full of monsters. Everywhere you look you’ll find werewolves and ghosts and witches and fairies and all kinds of weird things. Part of Moonstruck feels like a Scott Pilgrim-esque romantic comedy. And then one of Julie’s friends - a centaur - loses his horse butt. From there, Moonstruck is full-on mystery crimebuster. In a sort of Tales of the Black Freighter style, the pages of Moonstruck is intercut with Julie’s favorite comic, Pleasant Mountain Sisters. an Archie-type comic (drawn by Kate Leth) about three little white girls in a small town who solve mysteries. Moonstruck is an adorable romantic fantasy comedy mystery that wonderfully blends relationships and hijinks with a cast of inhuman characters. Available in your local comic book shop Wednesday,  everywhere books are sold next week. Pre-order here.
