March Goals

Month 2 of 2018 is over and it’s time to look forward to March. February was kind of a dark month for reasons I don’t want to get into, but needless to say, it sucked. So in the interest of moving forward, check out my goals for March 2018

  1. Get back on YouTube. I uploaded a few videos this month, have a few more I need to finish editing, and have even more I plan to do in March. None of these ones have had more than 30 views, but that doesn’t really bother me anymore. The whole demonetization thing sucks but whatcha gonna do?
  2. Update blog sidebar. I now have a category section. It’s not as pretty as I wanted but ultimately my idea wasn’t working out. The important thing now is that there is a category section at all. I’ll come up with a prettier version later.
  3. Go on a geeky date. Valentine’s Day fell on the same night as a Harry Potter trivia night we’ve been trying to go to. We waited until a few hours before to check out the places reviews and decided it wasn’t for us. But then we did end up going to see Up and Away, a hilarious superhero musical comedy show. It was really nice to spend time out with Katrina, especially since I took other friends with me to my last three press events.
  4. Stay positive! Ahahahahahaha! Yeah right! On January 31st I got some pretty bad news that I am still dealing with. I tried really hard to not let it get to me, but on most days it was impossible to smile. Don’t worry about me, I’ll get through this. One thing that I have been doing is avoiding Reddit squabbles. I still browse, but I’ve gotten in the habit of writing up a response and then deleting it and closing the tab. It’s been really helpful.

Now, onto goals for March.

  1. Read at home. I’ve been reading a lot this past year, but my problem still remains that I only read while on my commute. This means I get all most no reading done on the weekends, and I am starting to associate the smell of the train station with YA novels. I want to read the Harry Potter series this year since I only read the first four as a kid. But The Goblet of Fire is huge and I cannot carry it around in my messenger bag, so I need to set some time to cuddle up with a book and get reading done at home.
  2. Hang out with friends for no reason. As mentioned above, I went to 3 press events recently with 3 different friends that I haven’t seen in a while - and it was nice. So I want to try spending more time with my friends regardless of whether or not I have an event they’d be interested in. Why can’t I just call them up and say, “Hey, you wanna hang out?” People still do that, right?
  3. Find a better way to monetize the blog. This past week’s articles have gotten way more views than my average posts, but my Adsense balance hasn’t gone up a nickel. So I want to explore other options. Whether that’s Patreon or converting popular posts into e-books, I don’t know.

I hope everyone has a good March! Let me know what your goals are for this month in the comments down below.
