February Favorites

Last month was cold and dark, so I stayed in and read books and watched Netflix and played games for basically the whole month. This month, however, I had a bit more going on. As a result, I didn’t really get to watch as much or play any new games. But I still had fun with what I did get into. Luckily I have a whole month worth of posts ready to post, so I can spend some more time doing other stuff.

Power Rangers Beast Morphers Announcement
Holy crap. First, we get a new Power Rangers logo. Then, Bandai parts way with the franchise. Then, Hasbro takes their place. Then, they announce that the next series in 2019 will be Power Rangers Beast Morphers and it will adapted Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, my favorite Super Sentai series of all time. The one that got away, skipped by Saban for a number of unconfirmed theories that are now all but confirmed: Bandai wussed out. But Hasbro is fearless! I have never been so giddy - I literally jumped for joy when the I saw the announcement.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
I’ve only finished the first “part” according to Netflix, but I’m already a big fan of this classic anime that I’m watching for the first time. They don’t make anime like this anymore, so it’s good to go back to the old Toonami days a bit. I really dig the magic system and the worldbuilding is Steven Universe levels of perfect. Also, I was totally prepared for the scene involving a certain girl and a certain dog, so that didn’t affect me. But no one warned me about a certain Lieutenant Colonel and that wrecked me to no end.

Old School Comics
I’ll go more into this in an upcoming YouTube video, but I read a bunch of Marvel comics from the 80s and 90s and man are they somethin’ else. Long stretches of novel-like prose that you would never see today, lots of scientifically explaining what is happening a split second after it happens, and my personal favorite: characters sitting around couches. There is just something about Thanos and Dr. Doom sitting next to each other in love seats in Doctor Strange’s house that just cracks me up.

What were your favorite things from this February? Let me know in the comments below.
